Traveling On . . . Catherine’s Landing RV Resort

We stopped at Mt. Pleasant KOA in Mt. Pleasant, TX for one night on our way to Catherine’s Landing RV Resort in Hot Springs, AR. On our one night stay our 13 yr. old dog Joon was in a recovery cone collar from a small surgery in Athens, TX. She couldn’t quite figure out how to eat with it on so we spoon fed her and Joon the younger dog was very jealous and kept trying to butt in.

Catherine’s Landing RV Resort was a wonderful RV Park. Several of the amenities (Zip Line, Pool, Fitness Room) weren’t open because of COVID-19. We spent a lot of time in Hot Springs in the National Park looking at the bath houses, eating some really good food, a beer tasting and exploring. We were able to get a Spa appointment and Walt got a massage while I got a facial. It was really wonderful.

The mineral baths were on a first-come-first serve basis because only a limited amount of people were allowed in. Once you got in you could stay as long as you liked. We got there at 9am on Thursday, 4/22, and were the first in line. There were 4 baths, each one at a different temperature, 104o, 102o, 98o and 96o. You could start in a higher temperature bath and then move to cooler ones. We stayed there for 3 hours.

We did a lot of exploring of the mineral springs scattered around the park. The temperature right out of the springs was 142o. There is also the ‘Hot Spring Jug Fountain’ where anyone can fill a jug of the mineral water for free. It was interesting to see all the people who were filling their jugs. We also climbed the Hot Springs Mountain Tower and took in the views of the area.
