Up a Creek – Fifty Lakes Minnesota

We arrived at Up A Creek campground in Fifty Lakes, Minnesota on Sunday, June 20th.  This campground is in the Brainerd Lakes district of Minnesota and is a very active summer home location. People from the Twin Cities, St. Cloud and other cities own cabins on the lakes.

On Monday, June 21st, we stayed at the campground and did wash.  We had been very active, with boat cruises, kayaking and cycling in Marquette and Bayfield and viewed our Minnesota stay as a weeklong opportunity to chill and rest.

We spent Tuesday, June 22nd, going to Crosslakes, Minnesota, visiting the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, buying groceries at Reed’s Family Market and eating lunch on the deck of Moonlite Bay restaurant.

On Wednesday, June 23rd  we drove the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway from Fifty Lakes to Pequot Lakes and back via Crosslake, circumnavigating Lower Whitefish Lake.

We spent Thursday, June 24th, at the campground relaxing.

On Friday, June 25th, we carried our trikes, and our puppies, to Pequot Lakes to ride the Paul Bunyan state trail.  This trail starts 30 miles south of Pequot Lakes and runs a total of 120 miles north to Bemidji.  We rode south for 6 miles to Nisswa, had an A & W Root Beer Float and spent a pleasant oth  people watching, making puppy friends and talking with other folks out cycling on the trail.

Saturday, June 26th, was the Fifty Lakes Day Celebration at the city townhall about a ½ mile from the campground.  It was a fun activity that concluded with fireworks that we could see from the campground.

On Sunday, June 27th, we drove 200 miles to Prairie View RV Park, part of the Prairie’s Edge Casino operated by the Upper Sioux Community.
