Onward to Michigan and Cooler Weather

Leaving Ohio we made our way into Michigan and stayed at another Harvest Host site, Cherry Creek Winery, for one night. We had another wine tasting which included a cheese and meat board and a New Orleans Muffuletta sandwich. We also tasted some of their hard ciders and really liked the Root Beer Cider and got a howler (32oz) to take with us.

Our next stop was Duck Creek RV Resort in Muskegon, MI for 7 nights. Thankfully, the length of our stays is increasing so we can setup and not have to tear down right away. We also get to see a lot more of the sights. The park was one of our favorites so far. The sites were very large with shade. They had a 5 acre lake with a bike path around it. Their pool and hot tub opened the day after we got there, to Walt’s delight. His first question about every campground is ‘Do they have a pool?’ With our longer stay we were able to do a variety of activities. We walked on the canal out to Lake Michigan in Muskegon and saw swans with cygnets (swan chicks). We rode on the Fred Meijer Berry Junction Trail for 16 miles which was right outside the park entrance. One of the best things we did was a cruise on Aquastar to see the ‘Blessing of the Boats’. We went out by the canal to Lake Michigan and parked. All of the boats came down the canal after us. Once they were all in Lake Michigan, the Pastor (who was on the boat with us) said a blessing (with a microphone). Then the Sheriff’s boat washed the lighthouse with fire hoses. Once that was done, each boat could pass the Aquastar for an individual blessing. It was really spectacular. Last of all we went to see some of the historical homes in Muskegon. There were some really interesting ones.
