Traveling to DC . . .

After leaving Chattanooga we stopped in Wytheville, VA at Deer Trail Park Campground for 6 nights on our way to Washington. It was before the actual season started, so there were not a lot of campers there. It is a great park with a lot of things for families and very creative. We listened to Bluegrass Gospel music at the Big Walker Mountain Country Store and cycled on the New River Trail that runs alongside the New River. It was a wonderful relaxing time. See some of the photos below and the photos in the gallery.

After our stay at Deer Trail Park we went on to Watermelon Park in Berryville, VA, for 5 nights. This is an Adventure Park as well as a campground. As soon as the season starts there will be tubing, canoeing and kayaking on the Shenandoah River which runs right by the park. We took a drive on Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park and hiked to Lewis Falls. After all of that we stopped in Front Royal and had some great tasting (and unusual flavors) ice cream and C & C Frozen Treats.
